What is a Literature Review?
A literature review (or review of related literature) is an account of what has been published on a topic by accredited scholars and researchers. It can be described as the "spinal cord" of research methodology, it conveys the established knowledge, ideas, strengths, and weaknesses existing within a specific field of study. A literature review is not simply a list of summaries, an annotated bibliography, or a chronological catalog of books and articles. Instead, it synthesizes prior research around a central guiding concept, research objective, or argumentative thesis.
